In memory of Ann, her family and friends have established the Ann T. White Memorial Scholarship for Future Educators.
The scholarship will be awarded each year to a deserving Gettys D. Broome High School female graduate to help her defray the cost of a college education. Broome High School opened in 1975 in Spartanburg, South Carolina and represents the consolidation of Pacolet High School and Cowpens High School, Ann's alma mater. Broome serves the students of Spartanburg County School District 3 which is the school district where Ann spent the majority of her career and from which she retired. Ann's three children are Broome High School alumni.
As a young adult, Ann would have been unable to attend college had it not been for the generosity of her employer, Dr. Joel Stone. A pharmacist, Dr. Stone owned and operated Stone's Drug Store in Cowpens, South Carolina where Ann worked as a "soda jerk" and pharmacy assistant during high school and college. Dr. Stone knew of Ann's limited resources yet recognized her potential and paid for her undergraduate education. Ann built upon his benevolence to achieve her own professional success and helped others in need throughout her life.
Ann White's family and friends have chosen to continue this tradition of helping others pursue their educational goals. General criteria of the Ann T. White Memorial Scholarship for Future Educators include that the recipient be a Gettys D. Broome High School graduate who

is female,

|
has a minimum, cumulative GPA of 3.0,
|
|
|
demonstrates leadership, and
|
|
|
plans to pursue teacher certification or a degree in education.
|
Preference will be given to a student who plans to attend Ann's undergraduate alma mater Limestone College (Gaffney, South Carolina).
Direct, tax-deductible contributions to the Ann T. White Memorial Scholarship for Future Educators may be made by sending a check (payable to "Broome High School" with "Ann White Scholarship Fund" in the memo) to
